What is the Student Vote?

The Student Vote is a parallel election available to students under voting age, and it coincides with federal, provincial/territorial, and municipal elections. The purpose of the Student Vote is to provide young Canadians with an oppurtunity to experience the voting process firsthand. 

When did it start?

Since 2003, there has been 26 Student Votes conducted, with 563,000 students from 3,750 schools casting ballots in the last election.

Why is the Student Vote important?

Voter turnout has been declining for decades. Students should get into the habit of voting and practice voting habits so they are prepared to participate in democracy when they leave high school.

Who holds the program?

Civix holds the program, and they are the leading education organization building skillas and habits of citizenship among younger Canadians.
